Roper Distinguished Lecture

With a subject as compelling as a “hermaphrodite pope,” the visuals for Lyndal Roper’s “Distinguished Lecture in European History” could, perhaps, have taken a backseat. But given the number of beautiful portraits of Martin Luther painted by Lucas Cranach the Elder (this one from the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art), it was easy to bring together a visual and textual punch.
